Bible Study Tip #08

#8: Watch for transitions.  The Bible is mostly written in narrative [story] fashion – 43% to be exact! When people in a story leave an area to go somewhere else, that is usually a good indication of a transition between one story and the next. Keep in mind that these smaller stories fit into a larger narrative.  For example: Genesis 22:19 says, “Then Abraham returned to his servants, and they set off together for Beersheba. And Abraham stayed in Beersheba.”  This verse concludes the testing of Abraham narrative and serves to transition the reader to the next narrative.
