Bible Study Tip #15 – The Story of the Bible [with chart]

#15: You will be hard-pressed to find a verse in the New Testament that is not in some way influenced by the Old Testament.  The Old Testament is three quarters of our entire Bible!  It is foundational to understanding the New Testament.  But it’s long, and sometimes difficult to understand!  If you are not as familiar with the Old Testament as you’d like to admit, here are two suggestions:

Use the YouVersion Bible App to read to you at 1.5x the speed (maybe 2x during those law parts!).  If you’re paying attention, you will get a quick idea of the main story elements as it reads to you (I liked the NLT reading).  It may only take two or three days of riding in the car listening to Genesis rather than WJTL to get through a book.  Once you’ve gone through a book or two, then take some time to slow down and read it for yourself.  You might just be surprised how it all seems to connect 😉
Use the chart below to help you as you study the Bible.  You can download the pdf version here.  This chart goes directly along with The LS Collective Podcast, Episode 23 – The Story of the Bible [see below]
